Sophia Branding Activities in Kerala, India:Collaborative Research Projects
1. Sophia Branding Activities in Kerala, India, are conducted under the auspice of Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) and its colleges, namely, St. Berchman’s College (SBC), Assumption College and St. Teresa’s College. Sophia University has signed MoU with these colleges and have continuous student and staff exchange programs. During May 2018, we invited Prof. Dr J G Ray, School of Biosciences, of Mahatma Gandhi University, to deliver a lecture to Sophia students about his ecological activities in the Kuttanad wetlands of Kerala. His talk was highly appreciated.
2. During November 2018, Profs. Huang, Hirao, Suzuki and Puthenkalam travelled to Kerala to participate in collaborative international conferences organized by colleges and MG University in Kerala and each one of us delivered lectures related to Branding projects as shown in the brochures.
a. International Conference on “Gender, Environment and Sustainable Development”
b. Indo-Japanese International Workshop on “Sustainable Water Resources Management”
c. We initiated project at SB College on Wetland and Sustainability Center.
d. We initiated a project at S. Teresa’s College on “Evaluation of the Kerala Model Relief Centers; Integrating a Gender Sensitive Disaster Management”. It was a collaborative research and a partial payment was also made by Sophia Branding project.
3. During September 2019, the result of the St. Teresa’s project was made public in a symposium held at St. Teresa’s and three professors from Sophia participated.
4. During October, Sophia invited the leader of St. Teresa’s project and Director of SB Sustainability Center to deliver lectures at Sophia campus.
