■Speaker : Sebastian von Einsiedel

Sebastian von Einsiedel has been the Director of UN University’s Centre for Policy Research since its inception in 2014. Prior to joining UNU, Sebastian spent five years with the Policy Planning Unit of the UN Department of Political Affairs, working on issues related to conflict prevention and resolution. Previously, he worked in the Secretary-General’s Strategic Planning Unit on terrorism-related issues (2008-09), served with the UN Mission in Nepal on peace-process support (2007-08), and was a member of the research staff of the UN Secretary-General’s High-level Panel on Threats, Challenges, and Change which reviewed collective security arrangements leading up to the 2005 World Summit. Before joining the UN, Sebastian held various positions with the International Peace Institute, the German Parliament and NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Brussels. Mr.von Einsiedel has published widely on the role of the UN in peace and security, and is the co-editor of two books, Nepal in Transition (CUP, 2012) and “The UN Security Council in the 21st Century” (LRP, 2015).
