教員紹介

７月１６日と７月１９日、イリノイ州立大学シカゴ校の学生１１名と教員２名（Professors Karen Su, Laura Fugikawa）を本学に招いて、石井ゼミの学生１６名と北米研究の合同ゼミを行いました。 テーマは「歴史の記憶」と「東アジアの安全保障」です。あらかじめ共通文献を読み、準備を行った上で、日米両国における第二次世界大戦の記憶についてディスカッションを行いました。合同ゼミに先立ち、７月１４日には一緒に靖国神社の御霊祭りに行き、親睦を図りました。ディスカッションを通して、双方ともに日米両国における第二次世界大戦の記憶の差異について新たな発見がありました。記憶の形成過程を議論した上で、果たしてその差を縮めることができるのか、意見を交わしました。本学の学生にとって「プチ留学」のような密度の濃い時間となりました。　　（英語学科教授　石井紀子）<続きを読む>

  Go USA and The Netherlands!                                                           Lisa Fairbrother    July 1st 2014 The World Cup group stage has finished and although 3 of our teams made it through to the last 16 (Nigeria, The USA and The Netherlands), Nigeria’s defeat to France leaves us with just two teams left to support: the USA and the Netherlands (the English department’s adopted team because of their high TOEFL scores, remember). Even if the Netherlands don’t make it to the final, their fans definitely deserve their own World Cup for creative headwear! Check out these outfits! England were actually fighting two battles Lisa Fairbrother   June 24th 2014 Despite the hopes of everyone supporting them, England is now officially out of the World Cup. Even though they still have one match left to play against the leaders of Group D, Costa Rica, they have absolutely no chance of qualifying for the next stage. Although this is sad, before the tournament even began, the British press was already pretty sure that England would struggle to make it through the group stage. 海外留学を応援するGo Global Japan Expoというイベントが12月15日に行われ、そこで上智大学もブースを設けて海外留学に関する取り組みを紹介しました。上智大学のグローバル教育センターのポスドクの上村威（うえむら・たけし）さんも大活躍！上村さんは英語学科出身で、在学中も1年間アメリカへの留学経験があります。そのおかげで英語圏に留学を希望する上智生のために良き留学相談相手となってくれています。 今回は日本全国からこのイベントに参加した高校生たちに、上智大学の留学制度の魅力を熱く語ってくれました。上村さん、本当に一日お疲れ様でした！！おかげさまで、300人近くの人たちが上智大学のブースに寄ってくださいました。 上智大学は昔からグローバル人材を育成したきた大学ですので、海外に協定校もたくさんあります！留学で世界中にお友達を作りたい、英語がもっと話せるようになりたい、国際的なフィールドの仕事に就きたい、など、夢がたくさんある人はぜひ上智大学に来てくださいね！<続きを読む>
