As well as teaching at Sophia University, John Williams is a writer, director and producer of Japanese films. He has won several awards for his films at international film festivals and has also worked as a consultant for METI, helping Japanese producers to develop international co-productions. He also works as a translator, translating subtitles and scripts for Japanese films into English.

John Williams teaches classes in Scriptwriting, Film Production and Translation. He also teaches the second year Skills Class, focusing on Critical Thinking and Analysis of Poetry, Short Stories and Films, and the Introduction to British and American Culture class, through selected British and American films.
