On Friday June 24th the Department of English Studies sponsored a launch event for the first issue of Angles, the new department journal of student writing. The evening was hosted entirely by the student editors Yuina Nakagawa, Emi Saito, Ryohei Mizoguchi, and Ayaka Yamaguchi, who explained the process of working with the writers, putting the journal together, and introduced the featured readers.
The editors were followed by the writers who read from their work and then answered lively questions from the audience. The five featured readers were: Risako Itokawa, Eri Kanda, Daigo Sugiyama, Hanna Takeuchi, and Mami Yuguchi.
To close out the evening, Eri Kanda, a writer and editor, encouraged students in the audience to spread the word about the journal and submit their own writing for the next issue.
