Think in English – The department has a strong focus on CRITICAL THINKING skills. Students will learn how to interpret and evaluate the arguments of others and argue and present their own opinions in a logical and persuasive manner.
Dream in English – The department has a strong focus on developing students’ visions of themselves and vision of the world. We encourage our students to expand their internal and external mental horizons through creative projects and research projects in English.
Act in English – In accordance with the overall mission and vision of Sophia University our department has a strong commitment to social engagement and to encourage students to use English as tool to change the world and make it a better place.

英語学科では、学生たちが自分自身についてより良く知ると同時に、広く世界に目を向けて視野を広げることを目指しています。英語を使った創造的な課題や学問的な課題を通して、学生たちは自己の内外に知的な世界を広げていきます。

他者のために、他者とともに生きる人を育てるという上智大学の教育理念に基づき、英語学科では社会貢献を重視した教育を行います。多くの卒業生たちが、鍛えられた英語力を武器に、この世界をより良いところに変えるべく、それぞれの持ち場で上智の精神を実践しています。
