” I don’t even speak my own language”：
the lived experience of language shift

This lecture will present some findings from my research project, which looked at the lived experience of second generation immigrants who do not fully share their parents’ first languages (now published as “The Cultural Memory of Language”  Bloomsbury 2014), and suggest some ways in which this is relevant to current social issues.
