What is USJI?

U.S.-Japan Research Institute (USJI) was a U.S. non-profit organization established in Washington D.C. in April 2009. The founders of the organization were five leading Japanese universities (Kyoto University, Keio University, University of Tokyo, Ritsumeikan University, and Waseda University). Sophia University joined USJI in 2015.

USJI

USJI started its activities with a ten-year mandate, and having completed its initial mission, it was formally dissolved in August 2021. Henceforth, participating universities will continue their effort to strengthen US-Japan intellectual exchange and mutual understanding on their own, and in cooperation with each other. We very much appreciate the support and understanding given to USJI by our sponsors and partners in Japan, the US, and elsewhere. We hope to build on the foundations laid by the USJI to further strengthen US-Japan intellectual exchange and understanding.
