The Linguistic Institute for International Communication has annually published Sohia Linguista to release findings from the inside and outside researchers and fellows.
For the No.74 2025 issue, the Institute invite submissions of the research articles dealing with a range of topics in the field of studies on language, which may include excerpts from the Master’s and Doctoral dissertations.
1. Qualifications
Institute fellow, visiting researcher, visiting fellow, collaborative fellow, full-time and part-time faculty, visiting professor, visiting fellow, collaborative fellow, of the linguistics major in the undergraduate and graduate program at Sophia University, and graduates of the Master’s program related to the field linguistics. Note that If the author is a student, a recommendation from their supervisor is required.
2. Language
All the manuscripts have to be written in Japanese, English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese or Russian, clearly and in sufficient detail so that referees can evaluate the quality of work.
3. Word counts
Papers or manuscripts should be in no longer than 15,000 letters in Japanese and in 7,000 words in other languages, excluding an English summary, which should be written within 200 words. (If it is difficult to stay within the limits for good reasons, please let us know when you submit your paper.)
Note that alphabets in the Japanese manuscript will be counted as one letter digit including spaces between words. The manuscripts should conform to Sophia Linguistica Submission Format Guidelines (downloadable here ).

Please send an electronic copy of the manuscript ( in both MS Word and PDF formats) by e-mail attachment to linstic@sophia.ac.jp. It should be accompanied with the “Sophia Linguistica contributor information” form (downloadable here) specifying their names, affiliations, e-mail addresses, mailing addresses, three(3) to five(5) keywords related the contents, and the name of the supervisor if the authors are students.
