Sophia Linguistica accepts research articles dealing with a range of topics in the field of studies on language, which may include excerpts from the Master’s and Doctoral dissertations. Those who are qualified are: Institute fellow, visiting researcher, visiting fellow, collaborative fellow, full-time and part-time faculty, visiting professor, visiting fellow, collaborative fellow, of the linguistics major in the undergraduate and graduate program at Sophia University, and graduates of the Master’s program related to the field linguistics. Note that if the author is a student, he or she must obtain a recommendation from his or her supervisor.
All the manuscripts have to be written in Japanese, English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese or Russian, clearly and in sufficient detail so that referees can evaluate the quality of work. Papers should be in no longer than 15,000 letters in Japanese and in 7,000 words in other languages, excluding an English summary, which should be written within 200 words. (If it is difficult to stay within the limits for good reasons, please let us know when you submit your paper.)*
Note that alphabets in the Japanese manuscript will be counted as one letter digit including spaces between words. The manuscripts should conform to Sophia Linguistica Submission Format Guidelines,which can be downloaded here.
Authors should send an electronic copy of their manuscript (either in MS Word file or in a PDF file) by e-mail attachment to linstic@sophia.ac.jp. Hard copies are also acceptable and should be sent to the mailing address below. The manuscript should be accompanied with the “Sophia Linguistica contributor information” form (downloadable here) specifying their names, affiliations, e-mail addresses, mailing addresses and the name of their supervisor if the authors are students.
