Diversity in ClIL in Plurilingual Communities of Practice

In this symposium, we aim to first analyse the development of Applied Linguistics from the early years of a direct method to a communicative approach, defining the place of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) along the trajectory of change. It looks at CLIL as a driver for change and gives a critical analysis of the approach and its implementation. An important focus in this symposium is the use of English as Lingua Franca (ELF) in CLIL and English Medium Instruction (EMI).
