The Role of the Sophia Institute for Human Security

Many researchers at Sophia University have been actively addressing global issues, such as poverty, environment, health care, immigrants and refugees, and peacebuilding, by studying these issues individually. The role of the Sophia Institute for Human Security is to unify these research topics under the concept of “human security”, and to build integrated knowledge that could not be realized by individual researchers. As an international center of excellence, the Sophia Institute for Human Security contributes to solving problems through academic research.
