Summary

'Dim Sum: A Little Bit of Heart,'' Wayne Wang's first film since his original, wise and funny ''Chan Is Missing'' (1982), it certainly means to be a serious contemplation of the erosion of traditional values among Chinese-Americans living in San Francisco. The film is mainly about the edgy relationship between Mrs. Tam, an aging, Chinese-born mother, and her daughter, Geraldine, the last of her American-born children to marry and leave home. Mrs. Tam is, as someone observes a bit too knowingly, a Chinese-Jewish mother. She keeps saying she wants to see Geraldine married to her long-time suitor, but every time Geraldine tries to make the break, her mother begins to fret about being alone.
