Prize Awarded to Professor Kiyonobu Date
On October 3, 2015, the Department of French Studies’ Dr. Kiyonobu Date was awarded the Obata Research Incentive Award from the Japanese Association for Québec Studies. The award, taking its name from the association’s first president and Meiji University professor Yoshikazu Obata who passed away in 2013, has generally been given to young researchers. Professor Date receives this award in recognition of his research on laïcité—secularism and separation of church and state—in France and Québec and for his project titled, “Interculturalism and Laïcité in Québec.” Congratulations, Professor Date, for this remarkable achievement!
