Message to Students

My specialty is contemporary American government and foreign policy. When you study the United States, you will be amazed at the depth of the field. The study of American government covers a wide range of topics, including political institutions such as Congress, the President, the Judiciary, interest groups, think tank, and the media. Elections, social movement, and transformation of political cultures are also significant areas to investigate in the field. Needless to say, the study is also closely related to other courses of the Faculty of Global Studies, such as Foreign Policy, Comparative Politics, Comparative Sociology, International Politics, and Area Studies.

Four years at university seems like a long time but is actually short. Please find something you can actively devote yourself to. I am also a graduate of Sophia (I graduated from the Department of English Studies, Faculty of Foreign Studies with a minor in International Relations, one of the fields composing the Faculty of Global Studies), and I had many wonderful encounters during my undergraduate years that are my treasure for life. For us faculty members, meeting all of you is most inspiring. We are very much looking forward to making new discoveries with you during your studies in the Faculty of Global Studies!
