My research focuses on communal (Hindu-Muslim) conflicts in India in the field of ethnic politics. I come from India, a major democratic country in South Asia, and my interest in the socio-political issues of my home country grew as I viewed them here in Japan. The keywords of this research are “society with diverse cultures, religions, and languages” and “the reality of inequality along with population growth”. India has a large number of young people and great future potential in IT and economic growth, and this has led to its growing presence in the international community. On the other hand, South Asia as a whole has domestic conflicts and border issues with various identities, and I am continuing my research on this region as a whole, which is attracting global attention. Specifically, my research focuses on anthropology from the field of social and political science, laying emphasis on human rights and social issues. In my classes, I would like to tackle social issues that are in line with students’ interests.
