Founded in 1938 and published semiannually by Sophia University

Monographs

The first editor of Monumenta Nipponica, Johannes Kraus, established the Monumenta Nipponica Monographs series shortly after the journal’s founding. Between 1940 and the 1980s, nearly sixty monographs were published. However, the growing demands of producing the journal led to the reluctant discontinuation of the series in 1986.

While many of the monographs are now out of print, a selection remains in stock and is available for purchase. For purchasing details, please click here. Additionally, some out-of-print titles are now accessible as e-books through Sophia University’s Institutional Repository (Sophia-R), available on the Sophia University website.
