39 students. Since then we have been conducting these special intensive lectures for around 10 years, and the following page contains an example of such a lecture. Of the students attending these intensive lectures some outstanding ones were taken to the site of the Angkor monuments where they commenced the practice of archaeological site training, and we also initiated masonry training projects wherein stones were processed and masonry work performed. In the RUFA, in the course of the archaeological site training for students of the faculties of both archaeology and architecture, about a dozen students participated around twice or thrice a year as trainees in human resource development projects, within the Angkor monuments. (During the spring break in March, during the summer vacation in August, and during the New Year holidays in December and January). With regard to archaeological survey they received training in tasks like excavations and so on, while in architecture they gained practical technical guidance in tasks like surveying and drafting, from Japanese teachers. Among them, some succeeded in discovering routes to study abroad as foreign students at the graduate school of Sophia University, after having received scholarships for graduate studies from both the Ministry of Education and private sources. The purpose here was for them to acquire specialized knowledge in fields like archaeology and architecture in Japan, obtain degrees in research linked to the Angkor archaeological site, and then return to Cambodia and spearhead the work to be done at the front lines of the monuments. At the end of this book, the content of the onsite lectures and training by this international research team in Cambodia (the training program at the Angkor site for conservation officers) has been collectively presented, from the time they were first conducted in 1991 until the 53rd time in 2017. Please take a look at it. (Appendix 2). Since numerous Japanese professors visited Cambodia as volunteers either in spring, summer or during the New Year, you will get an idea as to the lectures they gave in
