History of Women in America I

概要：　建国期から南北戦争までのアメリカ合衆国の女性の歴史を概観する。ジェンダー、人種という概念を踏まえて、「共和国の母」「領域論」をはじめとするアメリカ女性史の基礎となる理論を学ぶ。女性と社会の関わり方をみながらどのようにジェンダーが形成され変容したか、女性史の古典や一次資料の抜粋を読みながら、東部白人中流女性のケースを基本に考察し、同時代の黒人女性、インデイアン女性のケースも読む。

コース・アサインメント：　

１)   毎回、必ず文献を読んでくること。テーマに沿って簡単な感想文（リアクション・ペーパー）を書いてもらいます。　授業は学生によるプレゼンテーション、教員の解説とクラス・デイスカッションで進めます。

２)   毎回学生の有志２名以内によるプレゼンテーション。　プレゼンテーションする学生はレジュメを用意し、デイスカッションを踏まえてこれを期末小論文に仕上げます。プレゼンテーションは課題の文献を踏まえ、自分の問題意識によるfurther studiesを加えた発表が望ましいです。

３)   期末小論文。一次資料と二次資料両方を用いること。テーマについては授業で説明します。(英語でも日本語でも可。)
