On top of its outstanding generous support compared to other study abroad programs, the SAIMS program provides for credit transfer so you don’t have to worry about delaying graduation. I think it is a valuable opportunity to be able to visit South East Asia for study and live there while you are still a student. This experience, offered by SAIMS, of spending 4 months in the Philippines made me grow significantly and has had a great meaning in my student life. It was so fulfilling that I want to recommend this program to almost anybody, including those who are interested in studying abroad, South East Asia, emerging countries and development, the issue of poverty, or who simply want to experience something different from others, and even those who are not interested that much. Of course, even if you go studying abroad on SAIMS, you won’t be able to make much difference if you keep a passive attitude. It would be no better than any other study abroad program. However, if you take this chance and make the most of it, trying everything you can do and want to do, I’m sure you will gain something special and meaningful that you will never be able to get except at this point in life. I hope you too can realize your own growth like I did. If there’s anything you are not sure about, feel free to ask. I’d be glad to share my experience.
