Since I got a chance to study in Thailand, I decided to study a lot about Thailand. I took many courses focusing on the history, literature and culture of Thailand. I learned how the present relations between Japan and Thailand have been formed over history. It was also very interesting to learn about the work and achievements of Rama V (King Chulalongkorn), from whom the name of my host university was taken. I spent a fun and fulfilling time by basically attending class and working on my assignments on weekdays and going sightseeing around Bangkok on weekends. The university also planned sightseeing trips to tourist spots like Ayutthaya and floating markets for international students from abroad. I was able to experience Thailand in its true colors all the more because I looked around these interesting spots together with the local students. Many students go studying abroad in Western countries but few go to Asia. I strongly recommend you to participate in the SAIMS program because you get a chance to experience something different from other people and discover a lot of new things.
