Program Outline

The Transdiciplinary Human Development Education Program for Harmonized Diversity, a Sophia University initiative, was adopted for a fiscal year 2013 project of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology known as the Reinventing Japan Project: Support for Strategic Higher Education Cooperation with Overseas. As a part of this initiative, Sophia will be representing Japanese universities by participating in AIMS, an international study abroad program led by the ASEAN governments. The Sophia AIMS Program (SAIMS) will send and receive 25 to 40 students each year in the four-year period from 2014 to 2017. Sophia University students can spend one semester learning one of the many subjects offered by any of the seven universities partnered with Sophia in four different ASEAN countries, in English. Through this program, we hope to go beyond national borders to develop capable, internationally-minded individuals and strengthen cooperation and collaboration between the universities.
