Doctor of Policy Studies (National Gradate Institute of Policy Studies).

Joined the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (now the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry). Having served as, Cabinet Secretariat Director, Headquarters for Reconstruction after the Great East Japan Earthquake; Director, International Security and Export Control Office, Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau, METI; Director, Trade Rules Negotiations, Trade Policy Bureau, METI; Director for General Affairs, Department of Multilateral Trade, Trade Policy Bureau, METI; Cabinet Secretariat Counselor (Cabinet Overseas Business Investment Support Office), Deputy Director-General for Strategic Export, Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau, METI.

His specialties are international relations, international political economy, trade policy, and economic security.
