Starting Over: Japanese American After the War documents the attempts of Japanese Americans to resume their lives after being held in "relocation centers" far from their Pacific Coast homes during World War II. Despite in many cases losing their homes and jobs while incarcerated, they preserved through hardship and discrimination after the war to become the "model minority" in America, obtaining education, financial success and political clout.
